Hurlocker Residence
Santa Fe, NM
3500 sq ft residence
Project Architect: Robert Zachry
Design: Robert Zachry, Jim Gelfat
Interiors: Edy Keeler
Landscape Architect: Felicia Freed
Developer/Contractor: Michael Hurlocker
This residence is located northwest of Santa Fe, in the rolling hills overlooking mountains to both the east and west. The project is of contemporary styling, which draws from the historic regional southwest style architecture. The “U” shaped plan surrounds an entry courtyard for both vehicles and pedestrians. For privacy, windows are kept to a minimum along the street facing entry courtyard, while the opposite occurs on the other side, where the building opens itself up to the open space and mountain vistas with sliding glass walls and large covered outdoor entertaining areas. The crisp edges, modern materials and use of deep earth tone colors assist in reinterpreting the historic regional style.
