This project consists of a complete renovation involving the demolition of 80% of the existing structure. Thc scope of the project was to transform the existing 1950’s tract home into an updated residence reminiscent of the 1920's California Spanish style. The new design was limited to a building envelope which was based on the existing structure. This envelope was established to protect the sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean enjoyed by neighboring properties. To provide this protection, the new structure incorporated a collage of shallow pitched, smaller tiled roof components to create a roofscape which recalls an older structure with decades of subsequent additions.
