This property is located on acreage above Point Dume overlooking the Pacific Ocean. This property is on the outer edge of public utilities, so as an alternative to the costs of extending all public services to the property, it is intended to design in both passive and active solar principles to create a development which could be off the grid. The uphill side of the house is burrowed into the hill to take advantage of the earth’s constant temperature while the front and sides of the house are sited to take advantage of not only views but solar and wind orientation for natural heating and cooling. The flat roof design helps maintain a low profile structure and ample area for active solar panels.
